Hi! I am Maya!

I am a Qanun & Maqam mentor and I help Arab music lovers, musicians and dancers learn maqam and taqsim through a visual method using Lego while decreasing their momentum time by 20-30 years.

I am an award winning Syrian musician and qanun player. (and yes I studied and grew up there). During my 30+ years career as a professional musician, I taught qanun and maqam in universities in Oman and the UK.

Over the past years, I have helped 100s of Arabic music lovers from all over the world effortlessly recognise maqam by ear, deepen their connection with Arabic music and ultimately perform a taqsim.

As a composer and a professional performer, I have been dubbed by the BBC as 'Queen of The Qanun'. I performed all over the world, won prestigious awards and my work has been featured at BBC, Classic FM, The Guardian, Financial Times..etc which helped me reach 100s of maqam students all over the world.
